Alloy Wins 2025 Architecture Award for Mixed Use

A Standout in the Arts District
Alloy has been honored with the Los Angeles Business Council’s 2025 Architectural Award for Mixed Use, earning an Award of Excellence at the 55th Annual Architectural Awards. The program recognizes projects that elevate architectural design in Los Angeles and contribute meaningfully to the city’s built environment. Alloy was recognized for the way it integrates housing, office space, retail, and open space into one cohesive development in the Arts District.
Designed by SCB in collaboration with WORKS Architecture, Alloy marks the first high-rise in the Arts District. The architecture draws from the neighborhood’s industrial character, translating warehouse grids, durable materials, and strong structural rhythms into a contemporary vertical form. The brand-new, 35-story residential tower pairs with a five-story creative office building, creating a layered mix of uses that feels deliberate and well-composed.
At ground level, the project opens to the public through a landscaped paseo that connects Santa Fe and Mateo Streets. More than 55,000 square feet of open space includes retail frontage, gathering areas, and a performance stage crafted from a repurposed rail car, referencing the site’s rail history. The office building offers large, flexible floor plates suited for creative tenants, while the residential component introduces 475 new apartments and penthouses designed to support urban living in the district.
Together, these elements reflect the kind of architectural clarity and mixed-use strategy the Los Angeles Business Council’s Architectural Awards are designed to celebrate. Alloy strengthens the Arts District through its scale, mix of uses, and clear urban design strategy. It brings housing, office space, and public open space together in a way that supports long-term community growth.
